What's new v1.5.0
- New: sign in with a qBittorrent 5.2 API key instead of a password
- New: leave the username and password empty for a server behind a reverse proxy
- New: choose when alerts may make a sound — always, never, or outside quiet hours
- Fixed: torrents deleted on the server could linger in the list until a restart
- Fixed: switching servers flashed "failed to sync data"
- Various other empty-list, RSS and preferences fixes
About Captain qBit
Captain qBit is a modern Android app for managing a qBittorrent instance remotely over its Web API. It's a client for your self-hosted qBittorrent server — not a standalone downloader.
Features:
- Live torrent list with global and per-torrent speeds, progress, and ETA
- Sort, search, and filter by status, category, tracker, or tags from a drawer sidebar
- Category and tags shown as chips, with a colour you can pick per category
- Manage multiple servers and switch between them
- Add torrents via magnet links or .torrent files, with category, save path, start-paused, and Automatic Torrent Management options
- Choose which files to download when adding, and set per-file priorities from the Files tab
- Create categories on the fly, manage tags, recheck, reannounce, rename, and change save paths
- Detailed view with Info, Files, Trackers, and Peers tabs, including a browsable file tree
- Light, Dark, or System theme, with optional Material You dynamic colours
- Per-app language override, independent of your device's system language, with community translations via Weblate
- Optional status notification, plus opt-in alerts when a download or force-recheck finishes,
- with configurable refresh intervals to trade freshness for battery life
- Browse RSS feeds and articles, with auto-download rules and notifications for new matches
- Encrypted backup and restore of your servers and settings
- Clear failure reasons when a torrent errors, instead of a bare "error"
- Optional HTTP Basic Auth for servers behind a reverse proxy, plus self-signed certificate support — approve the certificate's fingerprint in-app, per server
- Works with qBittorrent 4.x and 5.x
Captain qBit began as a fork of qBittorrent Manager by Yash Garg and builds on that foundation. It is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license.
