What's new v1.5.7

  • Trash now empties itself: notes are permanently deleted 30 days after being trashed. Notes already older than that get a 3-day grace period after you update, and a one-time notice explains it.
  • New launch screen
  • App version shown on the Sync page
  • Linux .deb and .rpm packages
  • Server: Docker volume permission fix and health check

About LibreNotes

LibreNotes is a private, self-hosted note-taking app with end-to-end encryption. Your notes are stored only on your own server — no cloud accounts, no third-party services, no tracking.

  • Features:
  • Markdown notes with live preview
  • End-to-end encryption (XChaCha20-Poly1305 + Argon2id): the server never sees your plaintext or keys
  • Offline-first: full local cache, works without network, syncs when your server is reachable
  • Conflict resolution: if two devices edit the same note, you choose the winner
  • Trash bin with restore and permanent delete
  • Dark theme with orange accent
  • Works on Android, Linux desktop, and web from the same codebase

The sync server is a single compiled binary you run on a home server. It binds to your LAN only. For access away from home, add devices and the server to a Tailscale or WireGuard mesh — no server changes needed.

All source code is AGPLv3. No proprietary dependencies, no Firebase, no Google Play Services.
